ParaNoire Reincarnation

Oh my, I was so entangled in making it happen, that I almost forgot telling you about the reincarnation of ParaNoire Design :)

I finally managed to create a proper website (go to www.paranoire-design.com to have a look!) for my creations and as a special welcome gift, I have hidden a coupon code somewhere on the website. Simply look for a smaller version of the picture above! If you find it til May 10th, you can use it towards any etsy order placed until June 10th!

Let me know what you think, my dear readers!

"all things undead" fascinator finally finished!

Untitled

It's finally finished, and I love it *_* I spent about 11 hours stitching and sewing and weaving and searching for vintage findings that would fit this beautiful steampunk wedding fascinator (which is available for sale, btw!). I hope you like it as much as I do!

I used vintage lace, trims, beads, pearly, buttons, findings, fabric, jewellery, feathers, gemstones to embellish the vintage deer trophy which I then mounted onto a custom made felt & wire hat form, padded with handmade wool felt and lined with embossed satin. Words cannot describe how much I love it!

Want to know how to make your own fascinators?

IMG_0765

Hey dear readers!

I now offer ready-to-go kits for making your own fascinators! Because, let's be realistic, I will never find the time in life to make ALL the different designs I want, so why keep it all to myself?

Currently, I offer three different shapes (heart-shaped and a small & medium teardrop-shape). The sets come with a special hair clip (they are actually used to clip in hair extensions, but I found them to be very suitable for lightweight fascinators, too!), a template to cut the fabrics and instructions. I also sell the "naked" bases, if you would like to use a different approach to fasten it (hat elastic, combs, hair pins etc).

As I'm known for my propensity to share knowledge, especially of the crafty kind, I put up the instructions on how to make a fascinator (with one of my DIY-kits, for example *hint hint*) for all of you to download.

Go here for the PDF file.
And have some fun.

Sherlock Capes for the win!

IMG_0601a

I really love the BBC Sherlock series (can't wait for a third season Ö_Ö) and my Sherlock-inspired ANOUSCHKA capes seem to find a lot of fans, too! (Yay!)

I try to capture everything I sew on photo before I send it out, because even though the overall style might be the same, I always strive to make each garment a little different by using vintage lining fabric, unique buttons or limited edition fabrics. I particularly like the buttons on this cape, so I thought I'd share a picture of it :)

Also, I seem to have gotten into my work-at-night-rhythm again. And all this with the new semester (and early wake-up-calls) coming up fast. Let's see how that works out, eek.

Cheers!
Eva

I love gifts!

I received another box a few days ago, this time from the lovely Shermin (who has a fiber blog and sells her hand-dyed spinning fiber). Look at the contents, OMG! (I'm working hard on combing my exchange gift box fiber for her. Fluffy grey wool <3)

We have: red onion peels (it takes AGES to get enough for dyeing fiber, so I'm very happy about that!), homemade Garam Masala and Mustard (Ö___Ö), Tussah Silk, hand-dyed Merino and a mini artyarn bag. I already plunged in and started spinning the merino... I don't know yet if the color will suit me (I'm TOTALLY picky when it comes to colors and selfmade clothing), but spinning is fun anyway for now.

Happyhappy :)

In other news: I finished the first skeins with the white fluffy Suffolk that twig sent me and I almost got my thank you package ready for her :) The fiber is a dream to spin! Very fluffy!

I think this yarn would be awesome for dyeing. But the thing is, while I comb and spin like there's no tomorrow, I rarely dye and if I finish a knit piece about every other year that's already much, so there is NO WAY I will ever use up the 4 fleeces of grey and white wool (don't even counting the 6-8 fleeces still in the basement) by knitting for myself alone. So if you are an avid knitter/dyer of sorts, I'd love to sell / swap / whatever a substantial amount of these skeins I'll get out of those fleeces.

This fiber comes out mostly as DK / Aran 2-ply or fingering weight single when I spin, but I could spin thicker/thinner/n-ply if you need it for a special project. It's just what comes most naturally to me (and my wheel).

If you're interested, feel free to contact me via info at paranoire-design dot com :)

pre-wash 2-ply, still a bit kinky.

after soaking it: the last bits of dirt washed out and all the kink is settled. I am in love.

also: works great as a single. post-wash picture will follow :)
